Shoe Recycling Drive a HUGE Success
The Assets Advisory Committee would like to thank the Lakeshore students and community for donating old worn out athletic shoes to their 3rd Annual Nike Reuse-a-Shoe Recycling Drive. Every school had a collection box in their lobbies for 4 weeks during the spring. There were over 660 pairs of shoes donated. The high school collected the largest number of shoes…..289 pairs!
The AAC would like to extend a HUGE thank you to 2 local businesses for helping them this year. Two Men and a Truck donated all the collection boxes for the drive. Express-1 transported the boxes to a recycling center in Lansing. The AAC appreciates the generous support of these businesses for their annual recycling project.
Thanks to all the donations, the Lakeshore community can help Nike create playgrounds, running tracks, and basketball courts for deserving kids around the world. Plus, we are helping the planet by keeping all these old shoes out of the landfill.
Trash today…tracks tomorrow!
LEF Technology Campaign Update
Donate to the Technology Campaign "Bits, Bytes, and the Best" anytime!
>LEF Technology Campaign
The Lakeshore Excellence Foundation’s ambitious goal to raise $500,000 to outfit 50 classrooms across the district with 21st Century educational technology is well underway but needs your help. The Lakeshore district currently has 14 classrooms fully equipped with 21st Century technology. There are bits and pieces of this technology in a few more classrooms. It’s an encouraging start, but if you are the parent of a child who has experienced 21st Century learning in their classroom this year you will want it for them next year. Let’s not settle for technology here and there, please help the LEF impact “Every Child, Every Day” with the kind of technology that will help educate them to meet the demands of the future.

Book Drive a Success!
The Assets Advisory Committee held a Book Drive at the high school during Reading Month. The students did an amazing job by bringing in over 600 books. There was a competition among the first hour classes to see which class could bring in the most books. Mrs. Schroeder’s class was the winner of a donut party. The other winner was the Lincoln Township Library, which received the books. They will be part of their Annual Book Sale to benefit the library. The AAC is sponsored by the LEF.
AAC at the Beach again!
The Assets Advisory Committee went back to Lincoln Township Beach Park for their 5th Annual Beach Clean-up on May 2nd. The AAC along with students from other high school groups cleaned the beach and park. They picked up trash, moved lots of sand from the boardwalk, stairs, and ramp. Plus, they cleared the hiking trails too. This is the group’s favorite project each year. They enjoyed making the park a cleaner, safer place for the community to enjoy this summer. |
