2007- 2008 Annual “Art Around Town” Artworks Chosen
Showing at “Back To School Night”

The Lakeshore Excellence Foundation is entering its sixth year with the “Art Around Town” project. Approximately 100 Lakeshore students representing grades K-12 entered their artwork in the juried exhibition for the 20 spots to be displayed around town. Judging this past May were Sherri Baum and Jan Bell who are both from the Krasl Art Center. The judges were very impressed by the quality of artwork Lakeshore students are putting out. The art will go on a traveling exhibition in September to each of the “Lakeshore Back to School”
nights. After the exhibition the 20 pieces of artwork will be made available to community businesses for lease. Thank you to last year’s artists and to the businesses who supported this project by leasing and proudly displaying student art.

“Art Around Town” is a joint venture between the LEF and the Lakeshore Public Schools. The goal is to promote community awareness of art education while showcasing the talents of our students. 2006-2007 Art Around Town

Lakeshore has so much talent emerging from its art rooms that we just have to share it! Since 2001 student artwork is honored by the lakeshore Excellence Foundation as part of an annual "Collection" that is displayed throughout our community. Each spring about 80 pieces of artwork representing grades K-12 are shown to local professional artists. Those artists judge the artwork and 20 pieces are chosen to become the new "Collection." The student artists are honored with framed certificates while their artwork gets professionally framed. Once framed the artwork goes on a traveling exhibition in the fall to all of the "Back to School Nights" where the art is made available for a one year lease to local businesses. The businesses display the artwork in a prominent place and the students get their artwork back at the end of the lease. The Lakehsore Excellence Foundation wishes to thank the businesses that have supported this project by leasing and proudly displaying student art. Perhaps you may have seen some of Lakeshore's student works of art hanging around town.
