Improving the “Curb Appeal” of the Lakeshore High School

Growing Lakeshore Pride
This fall, the front of Lakeshore High School has been enhanced with a tiled
patio, stone flower boxes, landscaping boulders, flowering plants, bushes and
trees. This is all part of the Lakeshore Excellence Foundation’s project to install
major landscaping and improve the curb appeal of our high school, a central
hub of the community. Think of all the events held at the high school, from
sports and theatre to meetings and dinners. How much more welcoming to enter
through a pleasing, attractive environment.

The LEF supports “Growing Lakeshore Pride” to reflect the quality of our
students and staff and to improve the aesthetics of Lakeshore. Although all the
beddings have been mulched and edged, there are still many plants needed to
round out the plan designed by Nature’s Way. The total project cost of $30,000
is being raised by the LEF through tax-deductible contributions from Lakeshore
families and businesses. Your support is needed!

Please consider making a contribution of your own “green” dollars to help our
project continue growing “green”. Send your donation to: LEF, 5771 Cleveland
Avenue, Stevensville, 49127 and include “Growing Lakeshore Pride” on the
memo line.

High School Landscaping Underway with LEF and Nature’s Way
Staff, students, and visitors to Lakeshore High School have noticed several
planting beds, new stone flower boxes, and a tiled patio around the flagpole at
the front entrance. This extensive landscape project has been initiated by the
Lakeshore Excellence Foundation in cooperation with Nature’s Way. Keep
watching as the “curb appeal” increases with plantings this fall!

Lakeshore Excellence Foundation (LEF) Partnering with Nature’s Way
“Phase One” of a new landscape project has been initiated by LEF in cooperation with Nature’s Way. This phase concentrates on improving the appearance of the Lakeshore High School office entrance.

Large patio areas have been constructed on both sides of the walk leading
to this entrance, and two decorative flower boxes have been built on the west
building elevation. Additionally, new serpentine planting bed areas have been
prepared for late summer and fall plantings. Nature’s Way drawings are displayed
inside the school illustrating the details of the project. More information
will be available to inform the Lakeshore community of opportunities to participate
in this improvement project after school convenes.

The “Landscape Project” was conceived two years ago in a LEF Projects Advisory
Committee planning meeting. The objective of the proposed project was to
improve the appearance of school sites, reflecting the quality level of the Lakeshore
Schools and the community. The LEF decided this project would have
value to families, students, and the Lakeshore community and would be a natural
addition to the Electronic Message Center (EMC) project which was completed
in May 2005.

After deciding to actively pursue this proposal, various landscaping organizations
were asked to provide concept design proposals and cost estimates. The
LEF selected Nature’s Way with whom to partner in this venture. Nature’s Way
is well known to the Lakeshore District and has provided plans, products and
services over the years, including all the landscaping for the EMC.

LEF believes that Lakeshore is a great school district and is continuing its efforts
to go from “Good to Great” by Reaching Higher!
